About Cap Cana Resort

Cap Cana is a fully gated luxury resort community on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic — 15 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport and a world apart from the all-inclusive corridor along the Bávaro beach strip. The resort encompasses thousands of acres of private villas, a deep-water marina, Juanillo Beach, and two world-class golf courses. Access is controlled: non-guests require resort passes or villa guest access to enter the grounds.

The Two Golf Courses — Las Iguanas & Punta Espada

Punta Espada (2006) is Jack Nicklaus's personal favourite course design — eight Caribbean Sea holes and a 20-year track record as the Caribbean's second-ranked course. Las Iguanas (2025) is Nicklaus's newest Caribbean Signature Design — three ocean holes, a live iguana nature reserve on property, and a completely fresh playing experience adjacent to Punta Espada. No other resort community in the Caribbean offers two Nicklaus Signature courses on the same grounds.

Planning Your Cap Cana Golf Trip

  • Fly into PUJ (Punta Cana International): Direct routes from most major US, Canadian, and UK cities. 15 minutes from Cap Cana by car.
  • Stay inside Cap Cana: Villa Espada gives walking-distance access to both courses.
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights for Las Iguanas + Punta Espada. 4–5 nights if adding La Cana or Corales.
  • Book tee times in advance: Especially for November–April. Villa Espada concierge handles all bookings.
  • Add Teeth of the Dog: Casa de Campo is 90 minutes — a day-trip round-trip is very doable.

Non-Golf Activities at Cap Cana

Cap Cana's non-golf offerings support a well-rounded resort stay: Juanillo Beach (one of the Dominican Republic's finest), the Cap Cana Marina for deep-sea fishing and sunset cruises, resort spa facilities, and the variety of Cap Cana's villa and resort dining options. For a group with mixed golfer/non-golfer composition, Cap Cana works well — the non-golfers are occupied while the golfers play.
